Governor Kotek has proclaimed that June 17-23, 2024 is amateur radio week in Oregon. This includes the annual biggest event of amateur radio: Field Day!
Thanks to Scott Rosenfeld N7JI, the ARRL Oregon section manager, and Kevin Curry KA7KYQ, ARRL Oregon section legislative liaison, for making this happen.
The club’s Special Service Club certificate was renewed by ARRL in December. This is due to the efforts everyone puts into our community by way of this wonderful hobby, like community service events and disaster preparedness, as well as education for amateur radio licensees new and old. Thank you and well done!

The August club meeting has been moved from the 12th to the 19th as to not conflict with the Mt Adams Midnight Ride community service event.
Come join Radio Amateurs of the Gorge for the annual ARRL Field Day on June 24 at WAAM in Hood River. Starts at 11am!
Field Day is ham radio’s open house. Every June, more than 40,000 hams throughout North America set up temporary transmitting stations in public places to demonstrate ham radio’s science, skill and service to our communities and our nation. It combines public service, emergency preparedness, community outreach, and technical skills all in a single event. Field Day has been an annual event since 1933, and remains the most popular event in ham radio.
